Between March and April, Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery, Inc. (MHMM) received a package contract from Guangzhou JFE Steel Sheet Co., Ltd. (a joint venture company set up by JFE Steel Corporation (JFES) and Guangzhou Iron & Steel Enterprise Group (GISE)) to provide a complete set of major facilities for a cold rolling plant.

This plant is a state-of-the-art plant to be jointly constructed by JFES and the local GISE as the center of production of steel sheets for use in automobiles, in the wake of Japanese automakers’ advance into China. MHNN will be supplying three lines: pickling line and tandem cold mill (PL-TCM), continuous annealing line (CAL), and continuous galvanizing line (CGL).

This is the result of our gaining technological evaluation based on the relationship of goodwill and trust built up over the years with our customers and, moreover, our emerging victorious in stiff price competition.

Furthermore, as this business transaction is our first large-scale package contract for a cold rolling plant, we plan to pour utmost efforts toward starting production between 2010 and 2011. In addition, we plan to respond positively to package business deals involving hot rolling plants destined not only for China, but also for other countries, as well.
