Hot run started on August 2 at the hot rolling facility (with production capacity of 3.5 million tons per year) that Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery had been building in the Iskenderun Steel Mill in Turkey. As senior officials of our client company looked on, steel sheets that turned red-hot from being heated in a heating furnace after the facility was switched on were rolled by a roughing mill and a finishing mill and then wound by a coiler. Following completion of this series of operations, the hot run was successful, and the factory was filled with loud cheering and applause. Our client and we all shared the joy of the successful hot run.

This facility is a large hot rolling facility for which Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery has been awarded a contract because of its abundant experience and top-level, world-class technology and quality that has been highly acclaimed. Together with our client, we overcame many difficulties, including extremely difficult on-site construction work, such as diversion of existing buildings, and have come to greet this day.

The facility is capable of producing wide-width coils of up to 2,050 mm wide. It is a state-of-the-art facility that can respond to wide-ranging end uses, including steel sheets for household electric appliances and automobiles. After it goes into full-fledged operation, the facility is expected to greatly contribute to the development of our client. After the start of the hot run, all concerned personnel, together with our client, continue to exert utmost efforts on final performance tuning, with a view to turning over the facility at an early date.
