New Hot Strip Mill (C-HSM) in Hyundai Steel Company. (Korea) Completed
On September 15, a ceremony to celebrate the completion of a new hot strip mill (C-HSM) was held at the Dangjin Works in Hyundai Steel Company. near Seoul, Korea. Mitsubishi Corporation had signed an agreement to supply the mill in January 2008. At the ceremony, Mr. Yamasaki, President of our company made a speech on behalf of all the suppliers and celebrated the completion of the mill together with executives of Hyundai Steel Company. including Ph.D.Woo, President&CEO.
Hyundai Steel Company is a core company in the Hyundai Kia Automotive Group, which is the second steel company in Korea to have started blast furnace operation after POSCO. This Dangjin Works is attracting much attention as an environment-friendly steel Works. The world’s first key features are: raw materials such as iron ore and coal, which are usually stocked outside in other mills, are stored within dome-shaped buildings; and use of the enclosed system in processes up to the charging point of raw materials.
The first coil successfully rolled out of the C-HSM on August 16, followed by smooth start-up of operations. We, together with all those involved, is fully contributed to continuously the customer.
