Received Order for Hot Strip Mill for Integrated Steel Works at Tata Steel Ltd. (India)

Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery, Inc. together with Sojitz Corporation and Hitachi, Ltd., received order for all equipment of a new Hot Strip Mill from Tata Steel Ltd., which is a steel company headquartered in the Republic of India (hereinafter, India) and is that country’s largest private-sector company. Tata Steel is also a core company in the Tata Group, which is India’s largest industrial conglomerate. The agreement was signed on June 3.

The Hot Strip Mill ordered by Tata Steel will be part of Kalinganagar Works, a project now under construction in the State of Orissa, 400km southwest of Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta) in eastern India. The mill will have an annual production capacity of 5.5 million tons, and will be capable of producing automotive steel sheets and other high grade steel sheets. Production is scheduled to begin at the end of December 2013.

Our advanced rolling technology and Hitachi’s state-of-the-art electrical machinery and control technologies are expected to make an important contribution to the remarkable growth of India’s economy.
