Roll Coater
Roll Coater is equipment which applies anti-corrosion chemicals, paint coatings and other fluids onto the strip surface with uniform thickness. This equipment is composed of Applicator Rolls which transfer the coating fluids on the strip, Transfer Rolls which control the amount of transferred fluid by controlling the roll peripheral speed and the roll nip pressure, and Pick up Roll which picks up coating fluids from fluid pan.
All of Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery, Inc. roll coaters are designed and manufactured by U.S. affiliate GFG, located in Sussex (Milwaukee), Wisconsin. Japanese engineering staff are permanently stationed on-site, and a system has been established for providing after-sale services.

GFG roll coater characteristics
An extensive lineup is available, and has been optimally designed to meet conditions such as the properties of the coating fluid and the strip pass conditions.
Side Trimmer
Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery, Inc. side trimmer and scrap baller trims the strip edges to meet the established strip width, required by the customer, and winds the trimmed scrap onto the baller mandrel to make a scrap ball for easy discharge into scrap disposal system.
In addition to conventional side trimmers, Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery, Inc. has also offered various specified side trimmers to meet customers’ needs, including turret-type trimmer which does not require line stop for knife change, and the world’s first trimmer with FWC (Flying Width Changing) function which allows strip trimming width without stopping the line for continuous steady trimming operation.

FWC Side Trimmer
Characteristics of a turret-type trimmer
- High accuracy:
- High-rigidity trimmer housing and knife spindle support
Dual steering systems before the trimmer
Precise knife overlap and gap settings using Level 2 - High quality:
- Knife overlap/gap
- Easy knife replacement:
- The knife on opposite the trimming operation side can be easily replaced while trimming operation is in progress.
Characteristics of an FWC trimmer
- Basic functions:
- Includes all functions of a turret-type trimmer.
- Flying width change function (FWC):
- Allows trimming width without stopping the line.

Electrostatic Oiler
An electrostatic oiler is a system that continuously applies anti-corrosion oil to both surfaces of the strip. It is able to control the amount of oil applied on the strip width direction by giving the applied oil an electrical charge.
Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery oilers are environmentally-friendly systems that attach the discharged electrified oil onto the strip with few splashes, oil mists, or other problems.
All of Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery, Inc. electrostatic oilers are designed and manufactured by our U.S. affiliate GFG, located in Sussex (Milwaukee), Wisconsin. Japanese engineering staff are permanently stationed on-site, and a system has been established for providing after-sale services.

Scrap Baller
Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery, Inc. Scrap Baller is equipment to discharge trimmed scrap at side trimming operation after making a ball shaped scrap by winding on its mandrel.
Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery, Inc. Scrap Baller has a capability of full automatic operation from winding to discharging edge trimmed scrap by means of careful consideration on baller design and manufacturing for the difficult-to-predict behavior of the trimmed scrap. In addition, Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery, Inc. Scrap Baller realizes stable continuous edge trimming operation without sticking, jamming of the trimmed scrap and other problem, even during strip edge trimming width changing.

Scrap Baller
Characteristics of the MH scrap baller
- Safety and automatic continuous operation:
- Edge scrap is automatically wound onto the baller mandrel.
Ball scrap discharge is not required each time the trimming width change operations.
Continuous edge trimming operation is realized, without sticking or jamming of the edge scrap or other problems.
