APFC

APFC (Automatic Profile & Flatness Control) is a system which controls the strip profile and shape throughout its full length in a hot rolling finishing mill by means of high-precision setup functions and dynamic control functions (dynamic profile setup, dynamic shape control).

The superior characteristics of the APFC include the following.

• The use of online physical models allows high-accuracy predictions of the strip profile and shape, for optimal setup.
• The dynamic control functions are not simple feedback control; they are a control method which uses models to consider both the profile and shape, and which also coordinates all of the stands. It is able to deliver a high-quality profile and shape through the full length of the strip.
• Model adjustment work is easy, allowing the models to be set up quickly.
